Avani Hotels to Open Three New Beachfront Hotels in Thailand in 2022

Avani Hotels & Resorts (www.avanihotels.com)  is to open three new hotels in Thailand in 2022.  The three new beach resorts will open on the island of Koh Lanta, close to Krabi, Khao Lak near Phuket and Chaweng in Koh Samui.  Each will have its own individual style, but will reflect the design and ambience that Avani is known for.

Avani+ Koh Lanta Resort, Thailand (opening Jan 2022)

Avani+ Koh Lanta Resort will open in January with 92 guest rooms and private pool villas on a peninsula overlooking the Andaman Sea on the remote Koh Lanta Yai Island, south of Krabi.  The area is known for its unspoilt sandy beaches, limestone outcrops and rain forests.

The resort has been closed for 18 months for a full redesign led by a Thai-based PIA design studio using Thai influences and drawing inspiration from the Arab and Chinese seafaring heritage from nearby Lanta Old Town. The walls of the rooms feature hand-drawn wallpaper of Melayu motifs that derive from traditional patterned Malaysian woodcarvings introduced to the Thai people from trading days and classic chinoiserie floor tiles.  The top suite, the Grand Ocean Residence, is a private villa on top of the private peninsula, featuring a private garden, dining area and kitchen as well as an exclusive villa host.

Avani+ Koh Lanta will introduce three new dining and drinking spots. Pantry by Avani is a great place to start the day with freshly brewed coffee and pastries, with a relaxed café style indoor setting that opens up into an outdoor garden. The main poolside restaurant – The Cliff, provides a range of fresh catch of the day, sourced from the local fishing villages in line with the resort’s commitment to sustainable dining prepared with the best herbs and ingredients sourced from the island’s organic market. Sitting alongside the rocky beach, the Reggae Bar is Koh Lanta’s most famous sunset, cocktails and entertainment spot. The Lanta islands are just 70 km south of Krabi International Airport and accessible via a 15-minute ferry crossing.

Rooms start at a limited opening rate of £77 per night with breakfast.

Avani+ Khao Lak Resort, Thailand (opening early 2022)

Early next year Avani will open a newly built family resort on a long sandy beach in Khao Lak, which is an 1.5 hour’s drive north of Phuket.  The area is uncrowded and made up of a few towns and a 15 mile stretch of white sandy beach and is within reach of three national parks.

The new 328 room resort – the brand’s largest resort in Thailand so far -has been designed with families in mind with four swimming pools, five dining venues and AvaniKids club and waterpark.

Moving away from the traditional hotel gym concept, the resort will have the first AvaniFit – a new fitness and lifestyle concept developed in partnership with sports performance coach Khun Mickey ANP. Focusing on circuit training, the 24-hour facility aims to challenge fitness enthusiasts with a combination of endurance training, resistance training, high-intensity aerobics and high-intensity interval training.  Depending on their fitness objectives, guests will be able to sign up for boxing classes, hanging yoga or indoor climbing, while outdoor activities range from beach assault courses to pool workouts. Additional on-property activities, such as kayaking and diving, are offered at the water sports and PADI dive centre, and surf breaks are only 15 minutes away.

Prices start from around £120 per night with breakfast.

Avani Chaweng Koh Samui Resort, Thailand (opening mid 2022)

Avani Hotels & Resorts will be opening Avani Chaweng Samui Resort on Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui mid- 2022.  The new resort’s bold and fresh design is inspired by the glitz and glamour of travel in 1950’s America, with a contemporary take on mid-century modern aesthetic. SOHO Hospitality, a renowned Thailand-based studio known for their standout restaurant concepts, has infused a predominantly contemporary space with retro influences. The 50’s vibe is evoked via high-contrast geometric patterns and curves, mirrored furniture, abundant use of metallic and opulent fabrics.

To promote socialising, the architects kept Avani Chaweng’s footprint intimate. In addition to 76 rooms, the property features a swimming pool with a multi-level deck cabanas for mingling, a 24-hour gym and a social bar that doubles as a check-in area for guests who want to keep things casual. Avani Chaweng Resort guests will get priority access to SEEN Beach Club Samui, a sister property located next door, which serves internationally acclaimed cuisine and artisanal cocktails at its multiple swimming pools.

The starting price for a room is due to be around £100 per night with breakfast.
