Visitors to the spa at Anantara Layan Phuket can now recreate their restorative experience back home, by learning how to make their own body scrubs and herbal teas during two new hour-long wellness workshops. This follows the success of their Thai Massage and Herbal Compress workshops. The spa at Anantara Layan Phuket offers guests holistic treatments inspired by ancient Thai healing traditions.
Anantara Spa’s exfoliating treatments remove dead skin cells, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth while boosting blood-flow and circulation. During the Body Scrub Workshop, up to 10 guests can design their own fragrant scrub under the guidance of an expert spa therapist. After deciding which part of the body they wish to exfoliate, guests can personalise their scrub with an exfoliant such as sugar or salt; a carrier oil like nourishing coconut or sweet almond; and an essential oil such as soothing lavender, energising grapefruit or cooling peppermint.
Bringing to life the resort’s philosophy of using traditional Thai medicine to nourish the body from the inside out, the Thai Herbal Tea Workshop teaches guests to prepare special infusions designed to balance the four internal elements of Fire, Wind, Water and Earth. The refreshing herbal teas include cool pandan leaf, watermelon and chrysanthemum for Fire; spicy lemongrass, ginger and galangal for Wind; sour lime, tamarind and tiger herb for Water; and sweet coconut, soymilk and orange for Earth.
As well as these two new classes, Anantara Spa offers a range of additional wellness workshops for guests wanting to continue with their holistic journey following their stay. During the Thai Massage Workshop, students learn the basics of this ancient technique to help relieve muscle pain, reduce tension and boost blood circulation; while the Herbal Compress Making Workshop teaches guests how to create soothing herbal hot compresses using fresh ingredients such as root ginger, kaffir lime, eucalyptus and lemongrass.
The one hour Body Scrub, Thai Herbal Tea and Herbal Compress Making Workshops cost THB 1,700 (GBP39) per person. The one hour Thai Massage workshop costs THB2,000 (GBP46) per person.
