ANANTARA LAYAN PHUKET RESORT’S SLUMBER GURU

To help guests overcome jet lag and clear cluttered minds, particularly at the start of a holiday, Anantara Layan Phuket Resort has introduced a complimentary slumber guru, to put everything in place to help ensure a peaceful night’s sleep, the natural way.

The slumber guru’s guidance starts with the recommendation of a light early evening meal designed to be easily digestible and without stimulants. Dishes created by the resort’s chef include a fresh superfood salad containing ingredients such as goji berries, a super antioxidant and flax seeds, a fatty acid rich in Omega 3.

The evening continues with the preparation of a 30 minute luxury milk bath treatment using a combination of lavender, ylang ylang and calming jasmine essential oil and soothing background music, chosen from their specially curated chill out play list.

The slumber guru – a trained spa therapist – will offer an in-room or in-villa 40 minute Back, Neck, Shoulder and Foot Massage, which uses acupressure to help alleviate muscle tension that can build up after a long flight and encourage relaxation for a deeper sleep.

For those still feeling tense, the slumber guru can guide guests through recommended deep breathing exercises, to encourage deep breaths into your abdomen at a controlled and slow rate to relax muscles, slow the heart rate down and move attention away from distracting thoughts.

The bed will be prepared with a choice of pillow mist, bedding such as a duck down topper or buckwheat pillow, a cooling gel eye mask and ear plugs.

Before turning in, a selection of herbal infused teas are offered with sleep-inducing properties, such as monsoon tea, the sustainable tea from Chiang Mai which, includes mulberry, pandan leaves and chrysanthemum flower to reduce inflammation after long flights and aid digestion. Freshly baked lavender cookies made with lavender oil also provide a natural relaxation remedy before sleep.

The slumber guru is available for all guests at the Anantara Layan Phuket Resort and Residences.

Anantara Layan is a luxurious hillside retreat overlooking a tranquil cove of powdery beach on the Thai island of Phuket.
