The award-winning Anantara Angkor Resort in Siem Reap is introducing two new adventure experiences to uncover this beguiling region from a new perspective. Intrepid guests can explore the region’s rich cultural treasures during a thrilling Vespa ride or an exhilarating run among the famous temples.
The Temple Running Experience sees athletic visitors head to the deserted Angkor complex just before dawn to run along the world’s most unique running track, starting and ending at Angkor Wat and winding through the park’s most significant historical sites. Guests can run for as long as they wish – even challenging themselves to match the 21km of the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon, which takes place in December. Accompanied by a personal tuk tuk with a supply of water and healthy snacks, runners can soak up their extraordinary surroundings while passing spellbinding jungle-clad temples. Following the run, guests can delve deeper into Angkor’s ancient sites on a personalised tour with Anantara Angkor Resort’s resident Temple Guru, gaining fascinating insights into these archaeological treasures.
On a private full-day Vespa Tour, guests can choose to either zip through landscapes of rice paddies and lotus ponds or cruise among the ancient ruins of Angkor. The Countryside Life Tour offers an up-close glimpse of everyday rural life in Cambodia as guests are taken to see first hand how sugar palm juice is made, receive a spiritual blessing and indulge in a secluded picnic of local treats. The Angkor Tour, meanwhile, avoids the usual crowded vehicles and hordes of tourists to reveal the mystical temple complex from a different perspective. Sitting alongside an experienced driver-guide, guests will discover Angkor’s most fabled ruins before visiting local craft villages for an authentic taste of local culture.
These two new adventure experiences feature in the resort’s recently updated Discovery Guide, a collection of immersive journeys curated by an in-house team of Experience Butlers to help guests uncover the wonders of Angkor and the lesser known temples, Cambodian culture and rural life. Additional experiences available include private jeep tours, witnessing the art of silk weaving at a working silk farm, and cycling and kayaking through the floating villages of Tonle Sap Lake.
Featuring just 39 suites overlooking a royal-inspired pool near the UNESCO-listed Angkor temple complex, Anantara Angkor Resort is a luxurious gateway to the Eighth Wonder of the World. Styled like a grand Khmer villa, this boutique retreat features a pampering signature spa and a fine-dining restaurant serving progressive Khmer and pan-Asian cuisine.
A stay at Anantara Angkor starts from GBP149 per suite per night including breakfast (excluding taxes and service charge).
