Loy River Song, Thailand’s newest private luxury river cruise, has officially launched on the Chao Phraya River, charting a route from modern day Bangkok to the UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya – Siam’s ancient capital. The new luxury boat, which sleeps up to 8 people, offers a collection of itineraries ranging from two days/one night to four days/three nights.
In keeping with the spirit of a bygone era, the décor of the four-stateroom Loy River Song is dominated by antiques and rare Thai silks. Discretely incorporated into the timeless design of the staterooms are king-size beds, ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning, separate his-and-her vanities and dressing tables. A combination of King and Queen cabins, they range in size from 20 to 30 square metres and are ideal for extended families or groups of friends travelling together.
Traditional craftsmanship and regional influences evoke the elegance of old Siam, with intricately woven textiles in rich jewel tones and objets d’arts narrating the story of the Chao Phraya communities and their nautical heritage.
The same attention to detail characterises the interior of the communal areas that were purposely designed to host sunrise yoga, Muay Thai demonstrations, traditional dance performances and other activities promoting cultural immersion.
The open and airy main salon is decorated with handprinted wallpaper, original hardwood surfaces and low-slung furniture upholstered in sumptuous Thai silk. It opens into the elegant dining room that seats up to eight people overlooking the water.
Operated by an expert crew, the deluxe cruise delivers the impeccable five-star service travellers have come to expect with luxury river cruising. With Loy Pela guests get round-the-clock butler attention, exquisite meals prepared by a private chef and in-depth local knowledge courtesy of a resident tour guide.
The daily-changing menu features Royal Thai cuisine, including a Michelin starred menu by well-known Thai chef, Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn of Le Du Bangkok restaurant as well as European dishes. Guests are also offered afternoon tea and sunset cocktails and a decadent brunch featuring Canadian lobsters, oyster bar and caviar paired with fine wines.
During the cruise guests can enjoy a range of activities including cycling excursions on Bang Kachao island and guided excursions of some of the region’s most spectacular temples on foot, by car or a traditional long-tail boat, for travellers to get a real sense of old Siam.
Loy River Song joins Loy Dream, a two berth one hundred year old teak rice barge as part of Loy Pela Voyages.
