Discover The Benefits Of Qi Gong At Lefay Resort & SPA

Guests at award-winning eco spa Lefay Resort & SPA, overlooking Lake Garda in Italy, are being encouraged to discover the anti-ageing benefits of Qi Gong and Chinese medicine by the resort’s holistic master, Dr. Carlo Barbieri. Qi Gong is now included in many of the resort’s wellness programmes and is offered as a regular group activity on a complimentary basis.

The acclaimed wellness expert – who has consulted at prestigious institutions including London’s Centre of Integrated Medicine and the Medical Association of Chinese Medicine in Europe – oversees the resort’s celebrated spa programme, which blends classical Chinese medicine with modern Western techniques.
Dr. Barbieri advises: “To avoid premature ageing, we must enrich our Qi (the flow of energy through the body) by maintaining balance in certain areas of our lives, such as exercise, nutrition, stress management and quality of sleep.

“In Chinese medicine, nurturing the soul and achieving emotional balance are just as crucial to anti-ageing as the more Western focus on healthy eating and getting a good night’s sleep. The ancient holistic practice of Qi Gong fulfils both approaches.

“Qi Gong helps to achieve both physical and emotional equilibrium by improving breathing and posture, clearing the mind and reducing blood pressure and stress levels. By learning to control these three essential elements of mind, breath and posture, we can help our body to function correctly, maintain harmony and achieve longevity.”

Qi Gong sessions form part of the five night Lefay SPA Method Beauty Programme, which includes an anti-ageing profile check up, an aculifting Gua Sha massage, reflexology, tuina massages and an aromatic mud wrap among its treatments (2,500 Euros including accommodation).

Qi Gong can also be complemented with a range of a la carte anti-ageing treatments at Lefay Resort & SPA – which was recently named “Best Spa in Europe” for the fourth time at the European Health & Spa Awards. The resort’s 80 minute Il Cerchio della Luna triple-action anti-ageing facial treatment, which uses hot lava stones to firm and smooth the skin, was named Best Signature Treatment 2018 at the awards (190 Euros).

Guests can practice Qi Gong in Lefay’s large gardens, feeling at one with nature as they complete soothing movement, breathing and meditation exercises amongst age-old trees and Mediterranean shrubs with panoramic views of overlooking Lake Garda. Ideal locations in which to practice include an area of the resort’s Energy and Therapeutic Garden, known as the Black Tortoise exercise station, which sits in a peaceful valley by a rocky cave and small river.

In addition to these holistic anti-ageing treatments, the Lefay SPA features several pools including an infinity pool, six different types of sauna and five relaxation areas where guests can unwind for a truly immersive wellness experience; while La Grande Limonaia restaurant nourishes guests from the inside out with a gourmet menu of detoxifying Mediterranean cuisine prepared using fresh seasonal ingredients.
